Biofuels Wiki Policy FAQs

Software
The Biofuels Wiki uses the ColdFusion-based canvaswiki platform.

Duplicate Entries
Only site administrators can delete an entry.  This is because of the structure of wikis where entries are associated with registered contributors.  There are some entries which are deliberately duplicated because of disambiguation such as acronyms.  If you notice a duplication, visit the Report Glitches page, and let us know.

Site Hosting & Maintenance
The Biofuels Center of North Carolina hosts the Biofuels Wiki for the global biofuels community.  It is not responsible for content on this site.  But to prevent "wiki vandalism" or inappropriate content, the Biofuels Center of North Carolina will help maintain the uploaded information to the site. For continual improvement of content it needs you to add, create, edit, and refine the information posted here.  The administrator of this site is Norman Smit, Communication & Education Director of the Biofuels Center.

Technical maintenance of the code on this site is provided by Skylar Studios.

Privacy and Terms of Service
The Biofuels Center of North Carolina, which is the organization that started up the biofuels wiki, will not sell or distribute the list of the users who are registered on this site or turn it into an advertising-driven site.  The Center developed and maintains the site as a contribution to the global biofuels community.  It welcomes user suggestions to the terms of use for this site.  The Terms of Service page is here.  Please add your suggestions. Once this page is more mature, it will be locked down, unless it becomes apparent that a significant revision is needed.

Username Guidelines
This wiki requires a fairly detailed profile when registering.  However, many of the fields can be toggled on or off, depending on the degree to which an individual chooses to be visible or not on the profile page.  To assist in promoting the site as a credible location for information about biofuels and the entire spectrum of related topics, people who create or edit content cannot use an anonymous login and for the same reason, anonymous user names are not allowed.  By default, your name is associated with postings you edit or create.  The complete policy guidelines around user names is here.
