Welcome to the Biofuels Wiki

The Biofuels Wiki is a one-stop, collaborative, open-source, industry-led site where knowledge about liquid renewable biofuels can be found.  Think of it as a biofuels encyclopedia on the internet. You are on the Biofuels Wiki home page.

THE MAIN PAGE OF THE WIKI WITH FULL SITE NAVIGATION IS HERE

The Biofuels Information Challenge

The purpose of the Biofuels Wiki (What is a Wiki?) is to create a one-stop hub for interconnected information about renewable liquid fuels.  Along the way, it also hopes to develop a virtual biofuels community.

For biofuels to be made in sufficiently large quantities to be both meaningful and sustainable, all of the following are needed: science, research, agriculture, forestry, feedstocks, logistical solutions, transportation, education, training, production, policy, commerce, distribution -  and people willing to put these biofuels blends in their vehicles. These many pockets of specialization are disconnected and scattered geographically and by subject-matter on thousands of different websites.

The Biofuels Wiki collects and references these many sites, interlinking information using search or, through cross-links between terms and topics. What's more, you can update information you find that is missing or incomplete.  This information hub is as good as the hundreds of people, specialists, researchers and companies providing the content.  The greater the number of people contributing, the cleaner and better the content. Please participate and add your knowledge and information in your area of expertise. To create or edit content, please Register here.

The Biofuels Wiki Virtual Community

To create or edit content, you will need to Register.  When registering, you will be asked to create a profile.  That registration and profile will enable you to be part of the Biofuels Community.  You will be able to toggle on or off the fields you wish to make visible to other members of the Biofuels Community and also be able to post your resume.  In this way, the back end of the Wiki will provide a site for professional networking within this broad, interconnected biofuels community.

Site Hosting & Maintenance

The Biofuels Center hosts and helps maintain the Biofuels Wiki for the global biofuels community.  It is not responsible for content on this site.  But to prevent "wiki vandalism" or inappropriate content, the Biofuels Center of North Carolina will help maintain the uploaded information to the site. Please participate and add your knowledge and information in your area of expertise.  The administrator of this wiki is Norman Smit, Communications and Education Director at the Biofuels Center.
